Hundreds for Haiti
In an effort to help UMCOR (The United Methodist Committee on Relief), students and staff at D.F. Walker Elementary School set a goal to collect items to fill 100 health kits to help victims of the devastating earthquake in Haiti.  They not only met their goal of 100 health kits but also raised $537.00.  UMCOR is a non-profit global humanitarian aid organization that works around the globe to alleviate human suffering due to natural disaster, war or conflict.

PBS Model School

DFW has been selected as a Model School in the NC PBS program!  We have been recognized because we have demonstrated excellent results of our school staff, students, and parents working together to use school data to implement research-based practices and to develop supportive systems to teach all the students new behaviors.

Great Watch D.O.G.S Kick-off!

Wow! What a great turnout we had at our WatchD.O.G.S. kick-off event. Eighty-six father-figures were here to enjoy pizza and to find out more information about our WatchD.O.G.S. program. Mr. Wynn, granddad to Brady, was our guest speaker. As ...a WatchD.O.G., he encouraged all dads, granddads, stepfathers, and uncles to spend one day this school year at school.

Many of the "dads" signed up. If you were unable to attend and would like to participate, please contact Deputy Mike Lamirand at school.
